Mimi’s revenge
Now Mimi wins. She leaves the Amsterdam Thea Dennee and Dini Hendrikse behind. She wins a cash prize, a sash and a free trip: to Cologne, Brussels or Zurich. She can choose herself. But even more important: she comes into contact with Toon Hermans, who just lives in Zandvoort. He offers her a contract with his cabaret group.
Mimi afterwards doubts whether she has won that prize fairly. In Het Parool, she later tells: “Now my mother and Toon Hermans had the same dentist and on the back of that dentist, my mother then wrote just before the game ‘How do you find number eight?” And let him give that. Number eight, I was of course. ”
Mimi, just passed her final exam on the HBS, is allowed to go on the stage. A career like actress is looking. Toon Hermans takes her in tow.
