One of the most valuable free transfers is off the market: Wilfried Zaha is moving to Galatasaray after the end of his contract at Crystal Palace. On Sunday, the Süper Lig champions reported to the stock market that negotiations had started with the 30-year-old attacker, which equates to the completion of the deal in the Turkish transfer market.
Zaha let his contract with the “Eagles” expire on June 30, but could have extended it afterwards. It was said that he had the choice of signing a record contract from the club’s point of view or a transfer, for which there are said to have been several options. In addition to Gala, Zaha’s management is said to have held talks with SSC Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain, and there are said to have been offers from Lazio Rome, Fenerbahce and Al-Nassr.
Zaha is Gala’s fifth signing for the new season, including Leipzig loanee Angeliño. The 31-cap Côte d’Ivoire international is leaving the island for the first time in his career, where he also played for Manchester United and Cardiff City. Zaha made a total of 458 appearances for Crystal Palace, contributing 90 goals and 76 assists, with ten assists in the last season alone. In 2019 he reached his highest value of 55 million euros, he is currently valued at 22 million euros – in the ranking of the most valuable free transfers he was second behind Daichi Kamada.
