Yungblud won his first Grammy with “Changes.” His acceptance speech was moving: he honored Ozzy Osbourne on stage with Sharon – an unforgettable moment.

At this year’s Grammy Awards on Sunday, February 1, 2026, several tributes were paid to the late rock musician Ozzy Osbourne. Musicians like Slash from Guns N’ Roses and Post Malone performed together to remember the “Prince of Darkness”. The metal singer, who died in 2025, was also honored in an acceptance speech.

Yungblud wins Grammy for Best Rock Performance

On July 5th, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne gave a final farewell concert in his hometown of Birmingham together with his bandmates and some well-known guests. The British rocker Yungblud performed the Black Sabbath song “Changes”, which was first released in 1972. For this performance he was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Performance and ultimately took home the award.

It was the first time that the 28-year-old was nominated for the coveted award and won it. He was also nominated for best rock album with his album “Idols” and for best rock song with his song “Zombie”.

Honored together with Sharon Osbourne

Yungblud then dedicated his acceptance speech to Ozzy Osbourne and his family. He brought the deceased’s widow, Sharon Osbourne, on stage to share the moment with her.

He said of Ozzy: “Growing up with an idol who helps you find your identity, not just as a musician but as a person, I’m really grateful for that. But then building a relationship with him and honoring him at his last show – that’s something I find so strange to understand.”

He then thanked the entire Osbourne family: “We would all like to thank Sharon, Jack, Kelly and Aimee for this opportunity, and everyone involved with the show ‘Back to the Beginning’.” He added: “The entire band that is with me now is six generations that have come together in the name of our genre, in the name of Sabbath and in the name of Ozzy Osbourne.”

Former worship of the “Prince of Darkness”

It has long been no secret that the “Zombie” interpreter is a big admirer of Ozzy Osbourne. For example, when his Grammy nomination was announced, he didn’t hesitate to post a picture of himself and the Black Sabbath founding member. Below he announced his nominations and thanked his idol back then. He also gave a tribute performance to the late thoroughbred rocker at last year’s VMA Awards on September 7, 2025.

Ozzy Osbourne died of heart failure at his Birmingham estate on July 22, 2025. Of course, Yungblud also spoke up that day with a tribute post via Instagram. In it he called him “the best of all time.”
