“You’re talking shit!”

The reason Marcel van Roosmalen sat at the table was to discuss their new podcast Weer Een Dag together with Gijs Groenteman. At one point, presenter Johnny de Mol also asked about their fight with Jan Slagter. The boss of Omroep MAX finds the two gentlemen extremely irritating.

very annoying

Wierd Duk understands that, he said at the same talk show table. “They’re also very annoying, aren’t they? That Van Roosmalen, for example, doesn’t know me at all, but he also pisses me off, you know?”

Marcel then: “Yes, but Wierd, if we start like this… Look, what is bothering you: you travel through the country for De Telegraaf… And I think you are very good as a Ukraine specialist and Russia specialist, kudos… ”

Wierd: “And everything else that’s nothing at all!”

red cloth

Marcel: “Everything else is just playing Hart van Nederland a bit. You don’t take it so closely with the facts, you absorb all the emotions like a sponge and you spit it out and I think that’s very funny to say something about that every now and then. Then you always immediately react like a red rag to a bull. (…) In that respect you are also of the same generation as Jan Slagter.”

Wierd: “Oh, we are both very sensitive of course! No, I can handle it just fine, but he shouldn’t say that I’m just making up something, of course, because that’s not the case.”

“You’re bullshitting!”

Marcel: “That you come up with something… You let people… For example, someone has been beaten at the fair with a foreign appearance…”

Wierd: “You don’t know my work at all, so you just talk.”

Marcel: “You have a special page in De Telegraaf in which you elaborate on people who have been harmed. You let people speak without contradiction.”

populist

According to Marcel, Wierd’s pieces are often populist. “The people you speak to are often bothered, because then they have been bullied by an Afghan neighbor or the garbage is not collected from the flat. Then you sit opposite them, stir the coffee nicely and you type it out. I think you can joke about that.”

Wierd: “Of course you can joke, but you shouldn’t sell bullshit.”
