“You’re making that face again!”

Sandra Schuurhof is once again in a fight at the desk at Shownieuws because of her progressive and feminist attitude. “Yes, you’re making that face again!” she is told.

After her clash with Bram Moszkowicz (‘calm down Sandra!’), presenter Sandra Schuurhof is now at odds again with a conservative Shownieuws star. This time she gets into trouble with Guido den Aantrekker. Point of contention? The organization of the Miss Netherlands pageant is stopping because it would be somewhat outdated after 35 years.

Guido vs Sandra

Bart Ettekoven, who has been involved in that event for years, thinks it’s fine. He says in the show section on SBS 6: “I think it is a brave and good decision. Perhaps it is indeed outdated.”

Colleague Guido: “But who decides that?”

Sandra snaps: “Well, the women themselves.”

Guido: “Yes, but San, I think there are still plenty of women who really enjoy participating and are not at all interested in conveying a message or a good cause.”

World peace

Dyantha Brooks then asks Guido a rhetorical question. “Do you think such a beauty pageant should be about world peace and stop bullying, or should it just be about a woman in a bikini?”

Bart: “A nice woman…”

Guido: “It’s entertainment. You call her a hot chick. Yeah, let’s face it, that’s what it comes down to, and what’s wrong with that? I mean: make a Mister Election for other people too.”

Meat inspection

Those beauty pageants make Sandra want to puke. “Isn’t it just a meat inspection?”

Guido: “Yes, but we can all decide that ourselves, right? If you don’t want to look at it, then don’t look at it, right?”

Sandra: “Yessss…”

Then Guido gets angry: “Yes, but you’re making that face again, Sandra, as if what you think is the most normal thing in the world, but of course there are many people who really enjoy looking at a beautiful woman. Leave those charities and what you want with the world out of it, we believe that.”

Beautiful woman

Sandra remains calm about it. “It’s not about wanting to look at a beautiful woman, I understand that, but why do you have to measure that beauty and how do you measure that beauty? That is outdated. That is what the women who participated say: the bar is so high, it is no longer realistic what you radiate to other women.”

What a nonsense, Guido concludes. “Nowadays you are almost put against the wall and liquidated if you just enjoy seeing a beautiful woman on TV!”
