The Youngs Boys Bern have secured the title of Swiss football champion for the 16th time. The traditional club from the capital won 5-1 (3-1) at home against FC Luzern and was crowned champion at the second attempt.
In the remaining five game days of the Super League, the Young Boys can no longer be dislodged from first place. Jean-Pierre Nsame, Christian Fassnacht and Sandro Lauper scored in the first half, while Fabian Rieder and Cedric Itten made it perfect in the second half to win the fifth title in the past six years.
The coach of the Bernese is the former Bundesliga professional Raphael Wicky, who once played for Werder Bremen and Hamburger SV. Former Hertha professional Steve von Bergen is the sports director.
