Three teenagers have a fatal accident in Canada on their way to training. The crash brings back memories of a tragedy that shocked the country.
Three young ice hockey players were killed in a traffic accident in the Canadian province of Alberta. The teenagers’ vehicle collided with a semi-trailer on Monday morning (local time), the police said. The fatalities are two 18-year-olds and a 17-year-old.
The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. The accident occurred about an hour’s drive from Calgary.
Danielle Smith, Premier of the Province of Alberta, expressed her condolences to those affected. “The entire Alberta hockey family stands with you in your grief and prayers,” she wrote on social media. “I am confident that Albertans will stand by these families and this team with love and support in the days ahead as they endure a pain no one should ever have to endure.”
The Calgary Flames NHL team held a moment of silence for the victims before their home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The team had previously expressed their condolences on social networks.
The tragedy brought back memories in Canada of a serious accident in April 2018. At that time, a bus carrying members of a junior ice hockey team collided with a tractor-trailer. 16 people were killed and 13 others were injured.
