The plans of about twenty Dalen youngsters to build new starter homes are getting closer. On Wednesday evening the group presented the first drawings of the housing plans to the village.

If everything goes according to plan, eighteen homes will be added next year. From detached houses to duplex and semi-detached houses. “In total they are fifteen homes on Thyakkerstraat and three on Kieftenweg,” says Lars Oebeles. Together with about twenty Dalen youngsters, he has been working in recent years on a housing plan that they themselves set up.

It all started in 2022, when a survey went through the village to map the living needs of the inhabitants. Several young people from the village completed the questionnaire, also Oebeles from Dalen. According to him, there is a lot of demand for affordable starter homes in the village, but many starters are forced to move to other villages because there are no suitable homes in valleys.

“Based on that questionnaire, we were invited to Dorpsbelangen with several young people and that is how the idea of a CPO was discussed,” he says. The group decided to set up an association and to take matters into their own hands.
