Young Ajax drags three-pointer out of the fire with FC Utrecht promises

Young Ajax has won the first match after the winter break. The team from Amsterdam was 2-0 too strong in the promise clash with Jong FC Utrecht thanks to goals from captain Youri Regeer and Christian Rasmussen.

Young Ajax had to do without head coach John Heitinga in Utrecht. The coach was at home because of ‘illness’ and was replaced on the bench by Michel Kreek. He saw his team take the lead after just over fifteen minutes via Youri Regeer. The captain, who made his debut in Ajax’s first before the winter break, coolly pushed the ball into the corner.

Young FC Utrecht became especially dangerous in the transition. Since the goal, the team from Amsterdam almost failed to create any danger. The home team was too sloppy on the ball in the last phase, so there were few chances to score.

Halfway through the second half, Jong FC Utrecht seemed entitled to a penalty after a foul by Nordin Musampa. The referee allowed play to continue and in the counter punch Giovanni was very close to making it 2-0. The attacker pushed the ball just wide from outside the box after the keeper had already been passed around. In the extra time of the match, Christoffer Rasmussen secured the victory for Young Ajax: 2-0.

Young Ajax climbs to fourth place in the first division with 40 points from 21 matches due to the victory. It is about ADO Den Haag that still has a match due. Next Monday, the meeting with FC Den Bosch awaits (kick-off at 8 p.m.).
