BTSV does without club anthem – “classic” returns

For a few months now, the reconstructed club anthem striked through the stadium before the Eintracht Braunschweig games. So it is over again. An old acquaintance takes the place.
Anyone who waited for the stadium anthem “It is said to have flammed us and sport” on Saturday before the first home game of the new second division season against Greuther Fürth. Instead of the hymn that was introduced last year, the classic “You’ll Never Walk Alone” sounded through the loudspeakers in the stadium of Eintracht Braunschweig.
With the measure, the association reacted to the results of a large fan survey, in which, among other things, the stadium experience, the mood and the atmosphere were discussed. In the survey, less than a quarter of the approximately 3,500 participants had spoken out in their previous form for continuing the new anthem. She rejected more than half, some only under certain conditions.
The return of the “classic”, on the other hand, found a clear majority, according to the association. The playing of “You’ll Never Walk Alone” before the games of Eintracht had already been common until November 2024. Together with the ultra scene, the BTSV had then reconstructed the first official club anthem and introduced the games in advance.
The BTSV explicitly pointed out that implementation of the hymn in the game day sequence was the wish of the association-and not the ultra scene. The fans thanked the fans for the rediscovery and processing of the hymn. However, this has not been fully accepted in the ranks in the past few months. The length of the anthem sounded as a big criticism.
Regardless of this, one wants to rely on an “identification-pentent, Eintracht-owned hymn” in the future. The club wants to work on such a long -term together with the ultra scene, fan organizations and other groups.
BTSV Managing Director Wolfram Benz thanked the approximately 3,500 fans who took part in the survey: “The numerous feedback gives us many valuable impulses on how we can further develop the stadium experience,” he says. “It was a special concern for us to put the topic of stadium anthem on a broad opinion. We took the feedback from the past few months seriously and had this impression confirmed with the survey.”
