And those who hang bird food in the winter have a good chance that the great tit will be one of the first. Why this bird is doing so well in Amsterdam? “In addition to fat and peanuts, the bird houses in many places in the city also make it easy for the great tit,” explains Dwarshuis. “In the Vondelpark, but also in Noord, there is a lot of old greenery where this bird can live well. They also breed in ventilation holes of buildings in the city.”
