Rapper Boef is criticized by RTL Boulevard for the way he expresses himself during the current unrest in the Middle East. “Yes, I wouldn’t share that kind of information right now.”
The United States and Israel attacked Iran last weekend, after which the country launched a major counterattack against at least seven countries. Dubai has also been affected and of course there are always an incredible number of famous Dutch people there. It takes some time for them to get used to being in such a threatening situation, Aran Bade explains.
Luxury pictures
According to Aran, all those celebrities with their luxurious lives are equally shocked. “Sometimes they are very luxurious pictures there with all the jet set and lifestyle that we see there and now suddenly they are sometimes just underground there,” he says at the desk of RTL Boulevard.
Colleague Lex Uiting thinks it is a bit wrong how some stars express themselves. “Sometimes it’s a bit of a thin line, isn’t it? For example, I saw the reaction of rapper Boef, who then says: ‘Well, I’m also stuck here in Dubai, I can’t go anywhere, but at least then I can celebrate the birthday with my children in peace.'”
‘I’m sitting there’
What can celebrities do best, Lex asks Aran. “What is your advice? You want to say something about it, like: ‘I’m sitting there’, but at the same time it’s about the victims who are now falling in Iran.”
Aran then: “Yes, that. I would just be cautious with videos. We also notice it a bit. Robert and Chantal said today: ‘We are going to send you videos now.’”
Private jet
Former racing driver Robert Doornbos and his wife now live in Dubai, but do not want to make videos about the situation there. Sensible, Aran thinks.
He continues: “I also think… Boef also said that a private jet was waiting on the runway or on the take-off runway, and then I also think: yes, I would not share that kind of information right now. It is of course serious there in the area and that also requires serious reporting.”
Oman
Boef has now decided to leave Dubai, he says. “I am now in Oman, and if I were alone I would have stayed at home in Dubai, but my kids (especially my daughter) were very frightened by the rockets and noises. As a father, I have to do what is best for my children. And I felt like that was (temporarily) leaving Dubai.”
You don’t know whether more attacks will follow, says Boef. “I choose to leave because every bang my daughter hears scares her to death. I have to create peace for my children and wife again. That is my job as a father and as a man. We are going to see where we go from here, a holiday is never a bad thing, but everything is going well.”
