You can warm up for free this winter at these places in Zoetermeer

No Zoetermeer should be left out in the cold. Not even if gas prices are as high as they are now. That is the mission of the Salvation Army and that is why the organization is starting with so-called Warm Rooms. There are also Warm Rooms in Zoetermeer.

Every Zoetermeer who wants to warm up without having to worry about the energy bill can enter three locations where there is a Warm Room. “You can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, have a chat, but also just study or work. It doesn’t matter why you come, we want to help people,” says spokesman Menno de Boer.

Different places

The Hot Rooms are at the Salvation Army itself, but also at other places. For example, the doors of almost all libraries in the Netherlands are open during the winter months. Menno: “Libraries are often centrally located and, in terms of buildings, they are a good place to receive people. In addition, in some cities you can also enter schools, provincial houses or other public places. You do not have to register in advance; you’re always welcome.”

Warm Rooms in Zoetermeer

You will find a Warm Room at these three locations in Zoetermeer:

  • Forum Zoetermeer (main library), Stadhuisplein 1
  • At Bosschardt, Justus van Effenhove 37
  • Rokkeveen district library, Nathaliegang 81

Private Warm Room

The thousandth Warme Kamer was recently opened in the Netherlands. But this number can increase further: “Anyone who wants to can open their own branch”, Menno indicates. “You can just do that register via the website. Then we can help each other a little in difficult times.”
