‘You are a huge poser’

Jan de Hoop gets a big blow from Marcel van Roosmalen. The opinion maker thinks it is exaggerated that the presenter was so emotional during his farewell to RTL Breakfast news.

After no less than 33 years, Jan de Hoop said goodbye to the RTL Breakfast News in June. He had to wipe away a small tear, but immediately put it into perspective. “This is even worse than Toine van Peperstraten!” he joked at one point, to the amusement of his colleagues and the viewers at home.

affectation

Marcel van Roosmalen thinks it is greatly exaggerated that Jan had to cry when he said goodbye. He talked about it yesterday in the talk show Media Inside, where crying celebrities were ranked.

He himself would never sit down and cry on television, according to Marcel. “I try to put myself in that position and then I think: what would it be like if BNNVARA says: ‘Marcel, we are stopping Media Inside.’ Are we going to rage like Jan de Hoop on such a last broadcast? Yes, I think it is a high form of affectation.”

Empathetic

Co-host Gijs Groenteman does not think Marcel is empathetic. “Jan has done it quite often. Do you think he’s acting this or something? Maybe you have the empathy of a duck.”

Marcel stands his ground. “I think: yes, you present the news. You’re not really moved that viewers say that, are you? I can’t move in it.”

Toine ban

It was also about the howling of Tim den Besten. He cried on the radio after being accused of racism. “We don’t want him at the table anymore. People singing these songs and spouting stuff like this; no”, jokes Gijs.

The guests at the table who had to rank the crying celebrities were not allowed to choose Toine van Peperstraten. “Because that image may no longer be broadcast. Toine van Peperstraten blocked that.”
