Ex-athlete dies in car after heart attack

Mourning for former professional baseball player Yoervis Medina. He was apparently driving his car when he suffered a heart attack and died.
He was only 37 years old: Former professional baseball player Yoervis Medina has died. His former club, the Seattle Mariners, announced this on the X platform. “We are deeply saddened by the death of former Mariners pitcher Yoervis Medina. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends,” the club wrote.
The athlete from Venezuela was active in the US Major League Baseball for several years. Medina is said to have died tragically. As the local Venezuelan station “Radio America” announced, Medina was said to have been driving when he suffered a heart attack.
As a result, he lost control of his car and drove into the parking lot of a shopping center. There he apparently crashed into other vehicles.

Medina signed his contract with the Mariners in 2005 as an amateur free agent, but was initially only used in youth leagues. From 2010 he played for the AquaSox and later for the Mariners in the MLB. His last appearance there was for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016.
