Yle’s hit series competes in a prestigious international series festival.

Yle’s TV series Cold season has been selected for the main competition series of the Canneseries festival from among hundreds of series.
Annual Canneseries – Cannes International Series Festival is one of the world’s most prestigious international TV series festivals. Cold season competes at the festival under its international name Guts.
– Cold season is an ambitious and visually strong series. We wanted to create a world and a story that is strongly local but speaks broadly. The Canneseries selection is a great indication that Cold season also works internationally, series producer and CEO of Just Republic Samuli Norhomaa commented in the announcement.

The drama series produced by Just Republic focuses on the world of the women’s cross country team and its behind the scenes. The series follows Anna, who gets to train with the enigmatic skiing queen Maria’s partner. Both are coached by the ruthless Kim, who only cares about results.
Anna and Maria play a dark, psychological game where they compete against each other. At the same time, they need each other to rise to the top of the world.
Akseli Tuomivaara and Petra Lumioksan the directed series stars, among others Sannah Nedergaard, Rosa Söderholm, Crete Salminen, Antti Virmavirta, Reetta Ylä-Rautio and Pelle Heikkilä.
More than 814,000 viewers have already seen the first episode of the series. In addition Cold season broke the hit mark 1.5 months after its release. The hit limit refers to the viewership target, which is given a year to be fulfilled.
