Yara Kastelijn from Neerkant has won the Tour of Burgos. The 28-year-old cyclist from Fenix - Premier Tech arrived solo after 120 kilometers in the final stage from Gumiel de Mercado to Lagunas de Neila and took over the leader’s jersey from compatriot Lorena Wiebes.
For Kastelijn, who is also active as a cyclo-cross rider, it is the second victory on the road. She won a stage in the Tour de France Femmes in 2023.
Kastelijn attacked just over a kilometer from the top with fellow escapee Évita Muzic from France. Mischa Bredewold, who was second in the rankings after the victory in the third stage, came in fifth, one minute behind. Sprint star Wiebes had to let the group of favorites go at the foot of the climb.
