Yannick – The spectator’s revenge: the review of Dupieux’s film

YANNICK – THE SPECTATOR’S REVENGE
Type: surreal comedy ✦✦✦
Direction: Quentin Dupieux. With Raphaël Quenard, Pio Marmaï, Blanche Gardin, Sébastien Chassagne

Here is the first trailer for “Back to Black”, the biopic film on the life of Amy Winehouse

Quentin Dupieux is a conscientious filmmaker. He repeats it in interviews: «I don’t want to take up the viewer’s time». This is why he makes very short films, almost always funny, often focused on the supernatural (a killer tire, a giant fly, a tunnel that rejuvenates).

With Yannick stages his real nightmare: three actors of little talent, a less than brilliant play (The cokes, “the cuckold”, pure vaudeville) and a spectator who leaves the passive role (he has paid, taken the evening off, he is bored) and takes the audience and artists hostage. Irresistible. Dupieux is prolific. There’s another one coming: Daaaaaali! An escalation.
