Wullepitmolen is back on its pedestal after two years

The replacement of the Wullepit mill, a protected monument, was a real feat. The mill case was removed from its pedestal two years ago for restoration. “There was a beam affected by fungus and woodworm, which caused it to bend. So the beam had to be replaced. Only it was so deeply embedded in the mill that we had to remove the entire contents, replace them and adjust them again,” explains mill builder Kris Wieme.

In the end, it took four hours to put the 32-ton mill box back on its pedestal. The blades will arrive on the mill on Thursday and from then on it will be ready to turn at least once a month.
