Seven-time Grand Slam champion Venus Williams has lost her first singles match in almost a year.
At the start of the WTA tennis tournament in Washington, the 42-year-old American lost 6: 4, 1: 6, 4: 6 to Canadian Rebecca Marino in her first round match. Most recently, Serena Williams’ sister played a singles game in Chicago on August 23, 2021, where she lost to Taiwanese Su-Wei Hseih.
