After the successful start on Wednesday, Tatjana Maria was eliminated in the second round of the WTA tournament in Rome.
The 38-year-old tennis player had no chance against the Romanian Sorana Cirstea, who was seeded in 26th position, with a score of 2:6, 0:6 in just 55 minutes. Maria’s best result of the current season remains reaching the semi-finals at the tournament in Rouen.
After the positive start to the tournament, there are only two German players left in the race. On Friday, Eva Lys will face four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka in a highlight match, while Laura Siegemund, currently the German number one, will play against Yekaterina Alexandrowa.
