“He followed my dear mother about four months later,” Kops continues. “He was a real winner and we will miss him.” Kops senior took part in the Munich Olympics in the summer of 1972. The wrestler witnessed the massacre of the Israeli participants. The Amsterdammer withdrew after the Palestinian attack.
After his legendary career as a wrestler, Kops senior founded a gym: Kops Gym. The gym in Amsterdam has now been around for 40 years and is now run by his son and daughter.
