World ranking: DFB team twelfth in FIFA ranking

Frankfurt / Main (AP) – The German national soccer team slipped one place back in the FIFA world rankings at the end of the year. The team of national coach Hansi Flick is now twelfth, according to the ranking of the world association.

Belgium is still in first place ahead of Brazil and world champion France. The US national team moved past the German team, which was eleventh in November.

The ranking should be relevant for the World Cup draw on April 1, 2022. Accordingly, next to hosts Qatar, the top seven teams would be in the first pot. That should be tight for Flick’s Elf, especially since Belgium, Brazil, France, England, Spain, Argentina and Denmark are already safely qualified.

Germany could then end up in pot two and meet one of the greats in the preliminary round of the World Cup (November 21 to December 18). FIFA plans to publish the next ranking on February 10, 2022.
