Pair skaters Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel are leading the German squad for the World Championships from March 20th to 26th in Saitama, Japan. A total of nine German figure skaters are at the start.
The Berliners won bronze at the European Championships in Espoo, Finland, ahead of Alisa Efimova/Ruben Blommaert (Oberstdorf/Berlin), who are also part of the World Cup team.
The two-time Olympic participant Nicole Schott from Essen and the German Vice Champion and World Championship debutant Kristina Isaev (Mannheim) will be at the start for the women.
Delayed world championship premiere for van Rensburg/Steffan
In ice dancing, Jennifer Janse van Rensburg and Benjamin Steffan from Oberstdorf, who came ninth at the European Championships, will also have their World Championship premiere. The two-time German champions had already been nominated for the World Cup in Montpellier last year, but were unable to take part due to a positive corona test. The German champion Nikita Starostin (Dortmund) is about to start the second World Cup.
