Comes from Zenit
After more than nine years, Dejan Lovren returns to Olympique Lyon. The 33-year-old comes from Zenit St. Petersburg and has a contract until June 30, 2025. The central defender, who took third place with Croatia at the World Cup in Qatar, is said to have received 2 million in Russia six months before the end of his contract EUR fee. Lovren made 102 appearances (three goals) for OL from early 2010 until the summer of 2013 before moving on to Southampton for €10m.
“I am very happy to return to Olympique Lyon. This is the club that opened the door to international football for me, I will never forget that. I have many memories here, also many connections, especially with President Jean-Michel Aulas, who has always supported me. I left Lyon with regrets in 2013 because I felt I hadn’t shown everything. I want to show everyone what kind of player I really am,” said Lovren.
