World Cup qualifying playoffs, the results: Turkey wins

Turkey continues to dream of a place in the next World Cup. Montella’s team only needed a goal in the second half from Kadioglu, Brighton’s left back, to overcome Romania in the playoff semi-final. Lucescu’s men create little and have to surrender to their opponents. Now Calhanoglu and his teammates await who will prevail in the match between Slovakia and Kosovo for the last act of the play-offs. At 8.45pm all the other matches will be on the pitch: Lewandowski’s Poland hosts Albania, the winner faces whoever goes through to the next round between Ukraine and Sweden. On the other side of the draw are Czech Republic-Ireland and Denmark-North Macedonia.
