Status: 08/31/2022 5:43 p.m

National player Lena Oberdorf has canceled her participation in the two World Cup qualifiers in Turkey and Bulgaria because of a flu illness.

The German Football Association announced that a subsequent arrival of the midfielder from VfL Wolfsburg had been rejected due to the ongoing complaints. National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg nominated Fabienne Dongus (TSG Hoffenheim).

Germany are currently leaders ahead of Serbia

Germany will play in the final two qualifiers for the 2023 World Cup in New Zealand and Australia on Saturday (September 3rd, 2022/2:45 p.m./ZDF) in Turkey and the following Tuesday (6:30 p.m./live on ARD One) in Bulgaria.

The German team is in first place in its group with 21 points, which means direct qualification. Three points behind is Serbia in second place, which qualifies for participation in the play-offs.
