Kira Weidle screamed her frustration out of her soul: After just 20 seconds, the 26-year-old’s hope of a top placing in the downhill at the World Cup in Kvitfjell was over. She caught her hand on a gate, then continued to drive, but then had to give up. Weidle held his hand, the suit was damaged – but it is not yet known whether she was injured. Emma Aicher from SC Mahlstetten finished 23rd in the points, Katrin Hirtl-Stanggassinger (36th) disappointed.

Goggia wins small crystal ball, Norwegian surprise win

Although Sofia Goggia could not win this time, the Italian was able to secure the downhill World Cup for the fourth time with her second place.

Kajsa Vickhoff Lie won. It was the first downhill victory by a Norwegian in the history of the Ski World Cup. At the finish she was 0.29 seconds ahead of Goggia. Corinne Suter from Switzerland came third (+0.41 seconds).

Shiffrin Overall World Cup Winner
