World Cup in Carezza: Snowboarder Hofmeister – final stop quarter-finals

As of: December 12, 2024 4:18 p.m

Again no podium place for Ramona Hofmeister: last winter’s dominator is still looking for her form. In the parallel giant slalom in Carezza, Italy, the Upper Bavarian ended in the quarter-finals.

Last year, Hofmeister celebrated in Carezza and laid the foundation for a successful season there. But things aren’t going well for the snowboarder this winter. After the disappointing results at the start in China, the 28-year-old was unable to achieve a top result in Italy either. Hofmeister was eliminated in the quarterfinals against eventual winner Jasmin Coratti. The Italian prevailed against Poland’s Aleksandra Krol-Walas and celebrated her first World Cup victory in her career. The Japanese Tsubaki Miki came third.

“I lost to today’s winner. Jasmin Coratti drives so confidently here. You have to acknowledge that without envyn,” said Hofmeister and added: “For me – even if the result doesn’t reveal it – things went much better than in China. The feeling comes back.”

Cheyenne Loch, who shone in fourth place in the qualification, was unable to take advantage of a mistake by Poland’s Maria Bukowska-Chyk – that meant the 30-year-old was eliminated in the round of 16. Melanie Hochreiter failed to qualify.

German snowboard men also disappoint

In the men’s category, none of the German starters were able to make it through qualification. Elias Huber and Ole-Mikkel Prantl lost their duels. Stefan Baumeister was disqualified. The victory went to the Bulgarian Radoslav Yankov. Tim Mastnak from Slovenia came in second. Third place went to the Austrian Benjamin Karl.
