Great success for the German speed of ice skate Josie Hofmann (Erfurt) and Hendrik Dompet (Munich): At the World Cup in Calgary, they celebrated important victories over 5,000 and 1,500 meters in Division B.

In 6: 58.09 minutes, the 28-year-old Hofmann distanced the entire competition and won in front of the Belgian Sandrine Tas and Canadian Laura Hall. For the two-time German champion, who was the only one in the field of participants under the seven-minute brand and as the big goal of naming the 2026 Winter Olympics, it was the first victory in the World Cup.

Josephine Schlörb (Dresden) and Michelle Uhrig (Berlin) took ranks 13 and 18. Most recently, Hofmann had reached a decent seventh place at their first all-around European Championships in Heerenveen.

Dompet wins with personal best time

Shortly afterwards, the Munich Hendrik Dombek did the feat and won over the 1,500 meters – also in Division B – in a personal best. The clock showed 1: 43.73 minutes when the 27-year-old crossed the finish line. He was 0.47 seconds faster than the second-placed American Emery Lehman. The Chinese Hanbin Liu (+ 0.49) was third. The second German, Moritz Klein (Erfurt/+ 2.34), took 17th place.
