Germany’s opponent in Round of 16
In the round of 16, Germany will face one of the eight best third-placed teams in the group. Possible opponents are the representatives from groups A, B, C, D and F. There is a complicated system behind this that would go beyond the scope at this point and is clearly explained here.
The most likely case is that the third place in Group C or D would come to Germany. In Group C these can be Brazil, Morocco or Scotland, in Group D only Australia or Paraguay. One thing is certain: the round of 16 will take place on Monday (June 29th, from 10:30 p.m. CEST) in Boston.
The round of 16 would then be against the winner of Group I (France, Norway, Senegal or Iraq) or another third party.
