Summer is here and once again the festival season is just around the corner. For weeks, many groups of friends in Germany have been looking forward to celebrating their favorite acts in the open air. It’s just stupid that no one thought about the World Cup when they booked their tickets. Great. While Guns N’Roses hit the first power chord on the guitar, Thomas Müller leaves his magenta microphone behind and shoots us with the left ass cheek into the sixteenth finals – and you have the hair of some head-banging metal fan on your face. But what can you do when FOMO kicks in and you want to see Helene Fischer floating above you between a beer in one hand and a cell phone live stream in the other without dropping the bratwurst in your mouth? Do it, do it – there are solutions.

The fact that concerts and festivals occasionally collide with interesting football games is by no means new. At the 2026 World Cup, the playing times in particular ensure that German games run at concert prime time. You can find a complete guide to all collisions here.

Goal announcements live from the side of the stage

But a cell phone doesn’t have to be used everywhere for goal announcements between crowds of people. On June 17th in Paris, Olivia Dean loudly announced Kane’s goal for England during her concert. There could also be similar moments at The Cure concert in Berlin’s Wuhlheide from July 10th to 12th, because that’s exactly when the quarter-final window (10th/11th) takes place. Robert Smith is a self-confessed fan of the English national team and has in the past arranged concerts in the gaps between World Cup games “so that he doesn’t miss anything”. England could then play against Germany in the quarter-finals if both teams hold their own until then.

Live broadcasts on the festival site

It’s not just stage announcements that can inform you about the games – live broadcasts are also planned at many festivals. The Campus Festival Bielefeld (June 19-21) will show the World Cup on a big screen in front of the Electro Stage. The West Coast Festival in Frankfurt is also taking place on June 20th. The DFB group game against Ivory Coast will run at the same time. So far, the two largest upcoming festivals – the Hurricane and the Southside (June 19th – 21st) – have not yet provided any information about a possible broadcast of the second German group game. To be on the safe side, simply take a projector with you and use the neighbor’s tent wall as a screen.
