Manuel Neuer is back on the pitch after his calf injury – one day before departure for the World Cup. There is hope of playing in the final test match.

At the German national team’s final training session at the Frankfurt association campus on Monday, Manuel Neuer completed goalkeeper training for the first time since his calf injury. The 40-year-old initially made loose runs and sprints before positioning himself in the box and parrying shots.

This increases the chance that Neuer will be on the pitch against the USA on June 6th in Chicago in the last test match before the start of the World Cup. It would be his first international match since the 2024 European Championship quarter-finals against Spain – which the DFB team lost 2-1 after extra time.

In the first World Cup test on Sunday evening in Mainz against Finland (4-0), Oliver Baumann was guarding the goal. National coach Julian Nagelsmann had downgraded the Hoffenheim player because of Neuer’s return to the “world class 1b solution”.
