Shock for Brazil: Central defender Éder Militão misses the World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The Real Madrid central defender underwent surgery on Tuesday after suffering a serious muscle injury to his left thigh. He suffered this in the 2-1 win against Deportivo Alavés last week.
After the operation, the 28-year-old will be out for several months and will miss the World Cup (June 11 to July 19). As Real Madrid announced, the procedure took place by a specialist in Finland.
Consistent media reports from Spain and Brazil put the downtime at least five months. Brazil will face Morocco, Haiti and Scotland in Group C – and will have to do without their defensive chief. The “Seleção” is looked after by national coach Carlo Ancelotti.
