An incident occurred in the World Cup preliminary round match between Portugal and Uruguay. A streaker with a rainbow flag ran onto the field during the game and caused an interruption.

Folders put the runabout quickly

Portugal has prematurely reached the World Cup round of 16. The Iberians celebrated their second win in their second game in a 2-0 win over Uruguay.

Scene kept out of the TV picture

Iranian referee Alireza Faghani then placed the confiscated flag in front of an advertising board, then a folder grabbed it and took it out of the interior through the same exit that the fan had been taken through.

The TV viewers got little to see of the scene, it was kept out of the TV picture regulated by the world football association FIFA as much as possible. The runabout was only briefly seen, followed by the referee with the flag in his hand.

Criticism by ARD commentator Bartels

ARD commentator Tom Bartels criticized that the scene was not shown on television. “Let the man make his mark. Does FIFA really need something like that?“said the journalist.

Portugal’s Neves worried about speedsters

The rainbow runabout was also a topic in the stadium catacombs after the game. Portugal’s Ruben Neves worries about the man. “I hope nothing happens to the boy. We all got his message, the whole world got it,” he said. When asked about the subject in the mixed zone at the Lusail Stadium, a FIFA employee whispered something in Neves’ ear.

“One Love” bandage has been a source of debate since the start of the World Cup

Since the start of the World Cup, the ban on the colorful “One Love” bandage by the world association FIFA had sparked discussions. Among other things, Germany’s captain Manuel Neuer had wanted to wear the bandage. FIFA issued a ban and threatened penalties. Qatar has been criticized for the lack of rights for women and LGBTQ people.
