In January Luke Littler secured the World Cup title. The teenager still has to work on his professionalism. He slept an appointment with colleagues. One of them then found clear words.

Darts world champion Luke Littler was a long time in mind on Wednesday in a photo shoot in Belfast in Northern Irish and was subsequently complained about by star player Michael van Gerwen. According to his own information, the 18-year-old had overslept-a fact that the Dutch was approached at a press conference.

A journalist asked van Gerwen whether he could describe the scenes from the morning when Luke Littler had finally appeared after 25 minutes. The Englishman spoke of “light tuning”. “Who?” Asked van Gerwen, whereupon the media representative said: “When Luke Littler was 25 minutes late”. Van Gerwen interrupted him. “45 minutes late, they think,” said the 35-year-old, making it laughter in the press hall.

With a smile, van Gerwen could not help but another tip against Littler. The triple world champion said to the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation): “You have to stop treating him like a baby. He is no longer a baby, he is 18 years old.”

Van Gerwen also gave herself to be forgiving with his competitor. “No, that happens. He has to learn that,” he said. “You have to learn it in a hard way. It is a professional sport, so you are responsible for your actions. It’s that simple.”

“Mighty Mike” also emphasized that he doesn’t care if Littler appears too late for an interview. “But now seven other people have been waiting for him,” he said. “It’s not really nice, isn’t it?”

The Premier League of Darts starts in Belfast on Thursday evening. In addition to Littler and Van Gerwen, the three world champions Rob Cross, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price as well as Chris Dobey, Stephen Bunting and Nathan Aspinall are also

Littler had secured his first World Cup title in January at just 17 years. After his final victory against Van Gerwen (7: 3) he became the youngest world champion in history.
