At the biathlon World Cup, France, Norway and Germany are particularly successful. But a Finn was also a real success.

The former biathlon world champion Kaisa Mäkäräinen was moved to tears on Finnish television. The 42-year-old works as an expert for the TV station Yle and reports on the biathlon World Cup in Lenzerheide (Switzerland). There she watched compatriot Olli Hiidsalo, who achieved a real surprise in the individual competition.

Because in the overall World Cup, the 34-year-old can only be found in 72th place. In the World Cup singles, however, he made it to fourth place. He was only 15 seconds for the bronze medal. This success made Mäkäräinen emotional. After all, she was his teammate in the national team for several years before she ended her career in 2020.

The team behind the team was particularly great. Because not only the strong performance at the shooting range (zero error) led to the surprising result, but also the material.

Maintenance manager Marek Sander spoke of a “full success”. The changing conditions even played the Finns in the cards.
