Finnish orienteering world champion Mårten Boström42, has reported his serious illness in social media.
Boström, who has been suffering from a long time of unclear symptoms, reveals that he has diagnosed lymphoma, or lymph node cancer.
“If you’ve been jogging with me in the last eight months, you have had to listen to my constant cough,” Boström writes in his Instagram update.
Prolonged symptoms were first examined abroad, but it was only in the studies of Finnish doctors that the cause of chest pain and cough was revealed.
– Only Finnish doctors finally studied my breasts and found what no one wants to hear to be inside. Cancer.
After the diagnosis, Boström has begun treatments that will continue in stages for months. He says that well -being and coping will vary, but the goal is bright.
– I will not compete this summer and I will not participate in the World Cup in the path and mountain running. I don’t know yet the next time I run, but the dream of returning to the highest mountains keeps the flame alive, Boström writes.
Boström has been actively updating his somebody channels, where he has been telling about his daily life, his pain and wondering what really bothering him.
Kirkkonummi -based Boström is one of the best known names in Finnish orienteering. His career was seen in 2013 when he won the sprint at the World Championship in Sotkamo.
Boström became second in the Athlete of the Year vote in 2014.
