Work to be done on and off the field for brand new PhD student OFC

OFC has been promoted to the second division. The team won 3-0 against Quick yesterday and saw competitor Hercules draw. The promotion does not only mean a party, because the selection of the Oostzaners must be strengthened and a lot must also be done to the accommodation.

“A bizarre day. I expected that we would win, but not what would happen on the other field,” said trainer Pieter Mulders.

OFC took the title because Hercules drew 3-3 against ADO’20. The Heemskerk team equalized in injury time. “Of course I sent Roy van der Mije (trainer ADO ’20 ed.) a message and thanked him for his sporting duty”, Mulders says.

There’s work to be done

Now that it is clear that the Zaankanters will play in the second division next season, it is also easier for Mulders to attract players. “We need reinforcements and I already have some players in mind. I have already had a number of messages from players who come forward.” The OFC will close the season with the selection on Thursday. Then the OFC trainer can also say more about which players will leave.

Outdated accommodation

Now that the promotion is a fact, a lot needs to be done to the accommodation. The KNVB sets stricter requirements for clubs that play in the second division. For example, the changing rooms are now a considerable distance from the main field, which is not possible according to the guidelines of the football association. The main field is also due for replacement.

OFC will therefore play in the second division next season. The Amsterdam AFC and Koninklijke HFC from Haarlem will also play there next season. The team from Amsterdam finished sixth and the team from Haarlem third. It is not yet known whether Jong Volendam will also be at the highest amateur level next season. This week, the team of Kiki Musampa will play a diptych against Jong Almere City FC and it will be decided which U23 team will play in the second division.
