Road users who want to drive on the A17 towards Roosendaal in the coming days should expect delays. Rijkswaterstaat will close the highway completely for maintenance from nine o’clock on Friday evening. This concerns the section between the Noordhoek junction and the De Stok junction. The closure will last until Monday morning, October 20.
During that period the road is completely closed to all traffic, the entrances and exits in this section are also not accessible. This concerns the exits at Standdaarbuiten, Stampersgat, Oudenbosch, Roosendaal-Noord and Roosendaal/Borchwerf. The ‘t Hol service area, including the Texaco gas station, is also not accessible.
This means a major detour for motorists. Traffic towards Roosendaal is diverted via the A59, A4 and A58, depending on where everyone is coming from. The expected additional travel time can be up to half an hour. Local traffic is offered other routes via signs on site.
Maintenance of asphalt and guardrails
The closure is part of the usual maintenance that Rijkswaterstaat carries out within the so-called Variable Maintenance Contract 2019. During these ten days, work will be done on renewing the asphalt, replacing joint transitions and maintaining crash barriers and other components.
According to Rijkswaterstaat, these are necessary jobs to continue to guarantee safety and traffic flow on the highway.
Depending on the weather
The work is weather sensitive. In bad weather, work may be postponed and rescheduled.
