Ajax Women had to leave the national title to FC Twente in a direct duel. The team from Amsterdam saw a 2-0 lead go up in smoke at De Toekomst and lost the game 3-2.
The chance of the national championship was already minimal for the players of Ajax. Last week FC Twente became unofficial champion, because the goal difference was in favor of the Tukkers. Only if Ajax won by ten goals, the scale remained in Amsterdam.
Although that seemed an impossible task, the game got off to a great start. After 35 minutes of play, the team of coach Danny Schenkel was already ahead 2-0 thanks to hits from Romée Leuchter and Chasity Grant. Then the production stopped and shortly after the break Fenna Kalma made the connection goal on behalf of FC Twente.

In the final phase, FC Twente closed the season in style by turning the game around. Elena Dhont and Kim Everaerts gave the visitors the victory and with that the Tukkers became champion of the Netherlands for the eighth time in fourteen years. Ajax Women ends the season as number two in the Eredivisie.

VV Alkmaar
VV Alkmaar had an unpleasant end to the competition. On a visit to ADO Den Haag, the Alkmaarders fell hard. At halftime, Mark de Vries’ team was already trailing 3-0. Alieke Tuin did do something in return on behalf of VV Alkmaar, but could not prevent that in the end was 5-1 on the scoreboard in The Hague.
VV Alkmaar finishes penultimate in the Eredivisie. Competitor sc Heerenveen won 2-0 against Feyenoord and climbed over VV Alkmaar at the last minute.
