Stuttgart’s volleyball players are in the top eight of the Champions League. They held their own in the Bundesliga duel.

The volleyball players from Allianz MTV Stuttgart have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League. In the qualifying second leg for advancement, the German champions clearly held their own against SC Potsdam on Wednesday with a 3-0 win (25:19, 26:24, 25:22). A one-block from Stuttgart’s Eline Timmerman ended the game with the first match point. Six days earlier, Stuttgart had already won the first leg 3-0.

In Potsdam, the Swabians only needed to win two sets to advance. They had already achieved this goal after the first two rounds. The rest of the game was more of a friendly nature. In the quarter-finals Stuttgart now has to deal with the Turkish top team Fenerbahce Istanbul.

Potsdamm leaves break opportunities unused

In front of 1,200 spectators, SC Potsdam initially missed too many break opportunities. In the assumption, the team seemed anything but stable. National player Antonia Stautz was also unable to take on the leadership role as usual this time. Stuttgart calmly and calmly took advantage of the opportunities that presented themselves to score. In the second set, SC Potsdam was once again hoping for a successful end with a 20:18 lead, but the opponent had equalized again at 20:20 and narrowly won this round as well.
