Women experience more pain than men and more often have long-term pain complaints, but they are still taken less seriously in the medical world. Monique Steegers, professor of pain medicine at AmsterdamUMC, would like to see this pain gap disappear. In her book ‘The Pain Paradox’ she describes what goes wrong and what could be improved.
