Women’s E&O draw in extremis against Foreholte

HANDBALL – In a mixed game, the ladies of E&O drew 28-28 against Foreholte from Voorhout. Manon Keurs equalized in the last seconds. As a result, E&O from Emmen rises to tenth place in the first division.

The team of coach Jan Gerald Mulder was behind for almost the entire game. “The race went with high peaks and deep troughs,” said Mulder. In the second half the gap even increased to five points, but in the final phase the Emmen showed their best game. Due to time penalties, E&O was even briefly on the field with four women, but thanks to Manon Keurs’ goal in the last seconds, they were able to take a point home. “For us, this race was a victory mentally,” Mulder says.

Position gives a distorted picture

E&O is now in tenth place in the first division. Yet this says little about the relationships within the competition. E&O has now played 16 games, while Foreholte already completed the 20th league game. In addition, the team from Emmen will mainly meet less qualified teams in the remainder of the competition. “As a team, we should be in the top 6 at the end of the competition,” Mulder says.

Next week ZAP from Breezand in North Holland will visit Emmen.

Unitas also plays a draw

In the men’s first division, Unitas divided the points at home with Aalsmeer. The club from Rolde drew 32-32 and remains in thirteenth place. The gap with the teams competing for relegation is now seven points, so the team of trainer Henk Jan Ottens can look up in the rankings for the remainder of the competition.

Next Wednesday, Unitas will travel to Soest, where it will play against Eemland, the last of the first division.
