The German champions have pulled off a major transfer coup: FC Bayern women have signed top player Pernille Harder from Chelsea. With her comes the Swede Magdalena Eriksson.

She is one of the top players in the world: Pernille Harder. Starting next season, she will be chasing goals and titles in the FC Bayern jersey. And Harder even has Bundesliga experience. In 2020, the offensive player moved from VfL Wolfsburg to Chelsea – for 330,000 euros, so much has never been paid as a transfer in women’s football.

The 30-year-old is still the second most expensive player in history. FC Bayern gets it for free – the contract period in London is over. Harder was active at VfL Wolfsburg from 2017 to 2020 – and became German champion four times in a row with the Lower Saxony team. She also won the English title three times with Chelsea. In 2018 and 2020, the Danish international was Europe’s footballer of the year. So far, however, he has been denied a big title: Harder has been in the final of the Champions League three times – but so far it has not been enough for a win.

Also defender Ericsson is coming

With Harder, her partner Magdalena Eriksson is coming to the Isar from Chelsea free of charge. After six years in Sweden’s top division Damallsvenskan, the defensive specialist joined Chelsea in the Women’s Super League in 2017. There, Eriksson developed into a leading player and has been captain of the Blues since the 2019/20 season. In 2020, the 29-year-old won the Diamantbollen, the award for Sweden’s best footballer.

Harder’s next signing after Kerr

Harder is not the only new addition to the Bayern women’s team. The day before, the German champions announced the signing of Scottish international Samantha Mary Kerr. The 24-year-old midfielder comes from Rangers WFC and has been given a three-year contract in Munich until 2026. The move to Bayern Munich was an opportunity “that I couldn’t refuse,” said Kerr. “FCB is one of the biggest clubs in the world and the quality of the players here is great,” said Scotland’s Footballer of the Year 2022.
