Dramatic scenes after the final whistle: HSV defender Magou Doucouré collapses after the game against Union Berlin. Now she’s reporting herself.

French professional player Magou Coucouré has given the all-clear after collapsing during the Bundesliga game against 1. FC Union Berlin.

The Hamburger SV defender said on Instagram: “I’m fine.” The 25-year-old wrote this under a picture of herself in the hospital bed. “I received medical attention after the game and everything is back to normal and under control.” She has now been released from the hospital and back home.

What had happened? After the final whistle there was a medical emergency at the Volksparkstadion. Doucouré collapsed on the pitch and had to be taken to hospital. HSV gave the all-clear shortly afterwards: “When she left the stadium in the ambulance, she was already responsive and stable again.”

The newcomer also thanked “all the helpers, fans and 1. FC Union Berlin for their support” and wished his player “a quick and good recovery.” The Hamburg women lost the game 0-1 against the Berlin women. Doucouré was disappointed with the result. “We wanted this victory so much, it would have meant so much to us,” she continued and was self-critical: “I know that I can do better and will work on getting back to my best.”

For the time being, she will probably have to take a break. “I will take time to recover and will be back very soon,” said Doucouré. There are still two Bundesliga games left in the final stretch of the season. HSV, who are still worried about staying in the league, will first visit 1. FC Köln next Saturday before the northern German club welcomes the champions from Munich the following week.
