SOn Saturday 11 January 2025, the first evening of Rai Uno will host “Women for Women against Violence – Camomilla Award“, an event format that will bring stories of pain into the homes of Italians, but above all of rebirth and hope. Now in its ninth edition, in fact, the initiative faces two silent enemies that steal too many women’s lives every year: gender violence and the breast cancer. Just take a look at the numbers: over 110 women a year in Italy are killed by those who say they love themWhile 12,000 are victims of breast cancerwhich confirms itself as the most lethal oncological big killer for the female gender.

It is no coincidence that these two dramatic events are faced together: it is known, in fact, how both leave deep, visible and invisible scars, but it is also known how much both are united by the extraordinary resilience of those who fight them.

And it is precisely this aspect that “Women for Women” chooses to tell. The formatcreated by Donatella Gimigliano, President of the Umanitas Consortium Associationtogether with the authors Fabrizio Silvestri and Cristina Monaco, puts the spotlight on those who have made it, on those who continue to fight, on those who transform their pain into strength for others.

Stories of life and rebirth

Touching testimonies will alternate on stage: Rosanna Banfi he will dance for life in a monologue that tells his battle, while Cristina Donadio through the short film “The Choice” she will share her journey with breast cancer. The young man Nicolò Maja will bring his heartbreaking question “How can I forgive you dad?”, the only survivor of his family’s massacre. And then there will be Nadia Acceptwhich transformed the dark tunnel of violence and eating disorders into a mission to help others.

Art as a message of hope

Art will become a messenger of hope through the performances of Twins of Guidoniathe electric violin by Elsa Martignoni, the young singer STE accompanied by the international dancers Antonio Fini & Abby Silva Gavezzoli, up to the exciting performances of Master flutists and pianists. The Dancers for Oncology by Carolyn Smithled by Carolina Marconi, will bring the grace of dance to the stage as a symbol of rebirth.

Recognition of courage

The “Chamomile Award“, a sculpture created by the master goldsmith Michele Affidato, takes its name from the flower that helps other plants to heal, a perfect metaphor for this event. Among the winners stand out notable names such as Carmela Pace of UNICEF, Rosario Valastro of the Italian Red Cross, Vladimir Luxuriaand many other personalities who have dedicated their commitment to these crucial issues.

Testimonies of light in the darkness

Particularly touching will be the presence of Valentina Pitzalis, survived a femicide attempt which left her disfigured but did not extinguish her will to fight; Of Antonietta Tuccillo, fashion designer who is battling ovarian cancer high grade; and of Carla Caiazzowho found the strength from the violence he suffered found the Association “I laugh again”.
