Minja Korhonen and other women in the combined World Cup staged a protest on Friday before the start of the cross-country leg.
The athletes raised their arms and crossed their ski poles over their heads.
The statement was related to the combined status of women in the Olympic family. When the Milan-Cortina Winter Games start in a few days, the men’s combined is on the program but the women’s is not.
– We are for a good cause, and not to offend anyone, Korhonen told Iltalehte before the race.
– Let’s protest, but still with respect for everyone.
You can read more about it from Korhonen’s interview at this link.
Friday’s competition will take place in Seefeld, Austria.
