According to Annelies Wynants of the FPS Public Health, there is no reason to worry, especially for people who have not been to Congo or Uganda recently. It is especially important that no major danger arises for public health in Belgium, although vigilance remains necessary where necessary.
“Travelers arriving via the airport from affected areas therefore receive a flyer with information about possible symptoms and instructions on what to do if they develop complaints. Posters are also distributed at the airport itself. In addition, hospitals and general practitioners are informed about how to deal with patients who show symptoms and have recently stayed in an affected area.”
