A fire broke out in a house in the Westerkwartier district around 6 p.m. According to the Ostend police, a resident had placed a laundry basket on the stove and then accidentally pushed the gas tap. The gas fire was turned on, the laundry basket caught fire and then heavy smoke developed.
The emergency services arrived quickly and quickly got the situation under control. After a few hours the house was habitable again. A woman and two children went to the hospital for a medical check-up.
